Since 2010, Hometown Missions has assisted dozens of families in the DSISD with housing. You don't have to travel far to join a mission of helping those in need. Read about some of Hometown Missions' projects and see how we serve our community with the help of local volunteers.
From demolishing to securing new homes to renovating, from replacing floors to fixing leaky roofs, we’ve done a full range of activities to ensure our neighbors live in safe, healthy housing.

Recent Projects

home in a month

Home in a Month is Hometown Missions communitywide initiative to pre-build, and then construct on site, a new home in a month for a Dripping Springs neighbor and family in need of safe and healthy housing. The recipients of the inaugural Home in a Month was Roy and Louisa Acosta who have lived in Dripping Springs for decades, raised multiple generations, and have been contributing members of our community. Our inaugural
Home in a Month community-wide project was a huge success!

A Dripping Springs team up for a needed ramp

Hometown Missions, the DS Lions Club, and Dripping Springs Elite all worked together to build a ramp for two long time Dripping Springs residents. Over a couple of very warm days these volunteers provided a safe and secure ramp for a family in need and one of whom has been housebound since February.

Mr. Panda’s shower project

In an inspiring display of community spirit, Dripping Springs Hometown Missions rallied to support Manny Hernandez, affectionately known as "Mr. Panda," to complete a much-needed roll-in shower after an accident impacted his mobility. Huge thanks to The Friends Foundation, Mighty Mike Plumbing, Sun Tile Corporation, and St. Vincent de Paul for their incredible support and partnership. Together, we are proud to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
