Early 2019 Project

“Minga’s Makeover” in the North 40

A local senior couple who live in the North 40 (near DS United Methodist Church) have a mobile home in desperate need of new siding. The husband is on dialysis and can't physically do this type of work. His wife has several jobs and is a hard worker. They saved up enough money to buy the siding, but recently had to dip into that fund for some unexpected medical bills. They still have a significant sum to put toward the siding with Hometown Missions covering the rest of the costs.

We need some skilled and semi-skilled volunteers with tools to remove the old siding, install Tyvek water barrier and then hang the new Hardie board siding. Below are the details for upcoming workdays.

We plan to do the work over three weekends, weather permitting. We will only remove a portion of the siding at one time and then install the Tyvek and new siding.

DATES

Saturday, February 23 Begin Project. Remove siding, install Tyvek and install new siding.
We completed about 35% of the siding this weekend.

Saturday, March 2 More of the same.

Our Board

We are a board of seven - Chuck Lemmond, Nick Dalley, Antoinette Andrews, Patsy Ward, Robin Robinson, Lynn Osler, David Edwards.

chuck lemmond

If it weren't for this custom home builder and owner of Bear Creek Homes, Hometown Missions would have never been formed. Chuck found our first client, Rocio, and has been instrumental in our project management and overall leadership. Ask him about his El Camino (or any car for that matter).

antoinette andrews

Antoinette and her son Giles worked on numerous Hometown Mission projects. We just couldn't get enough of her common sense, her get-it-done attitude, and her infectious generosity. As one of our newest board members, Antoinette is charged with rallying our volunteers. Can you say "perfect for the job?"

robin robinson

As a refugee from corporate America, Robin brings her marketing, sales, and business experience to coordinating projects, website and social media marketing, and outreach. She's either building houses with Chuck, or she's in her woodworking studio making dollhouses.

david edwards

In Dripping Springs, who doesn't know Dave Edwards? Retired VP from Broadway Bank, Dave provides well-rounded, deep advice and guidance. He says he's not very handly, but he seems to make it to every workday. We think he's understating his skills so his wife won't be on to him.

nick dalley

As a professional speaking coach, Nick is our pitchman. He's new to our board and some of us are chomping at the bit to get him out on a project and see if he can wield a hammer as well as he can speak. We think he's probably a dark horse in this arena.

patsy ward

With 30+ years in child abuse proection and intervention, Patsy brings invaluable experience and level-headedness to help us assess a family's needs and navigate through all types of situations. As one of the founding members, she's an integral part of serving our organization.

lynn osler

Extraordinary State Farm guru, Lynn has a heart the size of Texas. She brings her financial and business acumen to Hometown Missions and is one of the original founders of the organization. On the weekends, you'll find her in her garden and talking to her four horses.
