An annual Event…

As ambitious as this sounds, Home in a Month is a project designed to build an entire home for a family in our community in just one month.
Not only is this a huge event for our area, but something everyone in the community can become involved in. We need four things to accomplish this task:

1.) Prayers for the community, volunteers, and homeowners

2.) Partnerships with the churches in the community

3.) Volunteers to participate in many levels of the project process

4.) Generosity via donations of money and supplies. Stay tuned for build details and forthcoming fundraisers.

Beginning now: The salazar home in a month 2024

The Salazar Family

The Salazar Home

The Salazar residence

The Home in a Month of 2024 will be the tear down and replacement of a home for the Salazar family. Nora Salazar lives in her current home with her daughter Victoria and two grandchildren. Three generations of proud Hispanic women living in a home that Nora and her ex-husband ordered out of a catalog over forty years ago. Nora has been retired for some years from the Dripping Springs ISD and upkeep and repairs on the home have become too great. There are a host of issues with the home that make it unsafe and for difficult living conditions. This led to Nora’s oldest daughter Melissa reaching out to Hometown Missions asking for help for her mother.

The zapata home in a month 2023

The Home in a Month of 2023 was the replacement of a 50-year-old mobile home for the Zapata family. Orlando and Rachael Zapata had lived in their old home with their youngest daughter, a recent graduate of DSHS, and three grandchildren. Rachael had lived in this home every day since she was brought home from the hospital after being born. This old home had outlived its ability to provide safe and healthy housing for this family. With failing electrical systems, septic issues, and fifty plus years of Texas elements breaking down the home, help was needed for these longtime residents of Dripping Springs.

2021 Inaugural Home in a Month

Tireless volunteers worked onsite, numerous supporters generously donated funds and materials, churches provided lunches, and pastors prayed over projects. The Dripping Springs community came together in a big way to help our neighbors, change lives, nurture community, and build a wonderful home for the Acosta family.
Roy and Louisa Acosta have lived in Dripping Springs for decades, raised multiple generations, and are contributing members of the community. Our inaugural Home in a Month was a huge success!
